Seasonal Health Care for your Dog with Furr Boost

It’s the time of year when the temperature drops, with a key aspect of seasonal health care being weight management.  Dogs are trying to regulate their body temperature more, requiring more energy input, but at the same time also can mean that they aren’t getting outdoors as much as they would in the fairer weather months, due to poor weather and shorter daylight hours.

It can be a challenging time of year for dog owners to maintain their dogs’ condition and keep the weight off.

For those days when no one wants to leave the warmth of the house, especially senior dogs as the cool temperature can play havoc with stiffening and older joints, then enrichment can be a great way of getting dogs engaged and keeps minds active. Enrichment is a great boredom buster, using all senses to stimulate minds, through smells and textures and they don’t have to be loaded with additional calories.

Simply taking the dog's usual food and adding to an enrichment toy can stimulate interest, not only through smell, but also texture, to either get their teeth into a stuff style toy or a licking mat or bowl.  By freezing the contents this makes the stimulation last longer, all whilst enjoying the warmth of the indoors.

Furr Boost is a great addition to use as a boredom buster, not only are the drinks low calories, but they are also low in protein and low in fat, with the whole range being less than 5% fat, so are suitable for dogs with Pancreatitis too.

Advising customers on a range of enrichment toys, additional treats or supplements could be a great way of giving your customers some down time without the guilt of missing the odd walk, but also be a way of getting some of those all important supplements in too.
